Daughter of John and Adelaide Goncalves. Siblings: John, Virginia Crocker, Joseph, Alfred. Married April 15, 1942 in Baltimore, MD to attorney Eugene Archibald Alexander III. Children : Jane and Nancy. Two grandchildren. Immigrated from Portugal's Madeira Islands with her family to Newport News, VA in 1929. She was a graduate of Newport News High School and received a bachelor's degree from Providence School of Nursing, class of 1935. She retired as a school nurse in 1994 from Emmanual Christian Day School in Catonsville. She died from complications of diabetes at Stella Maris Hospice at Mercy Medical Center.
