A son of Mason and Charlotte (Akers) Barton. He was united in marriage with Nellie G. Hanks on June 3, 1903. Aged 62 years, 3 months and 7 days.

He was survived by his wife with the following children:
Maye McKibben of West Town, PA; Mrs. Vance Sorflaton of Sykesville, MD; Miss Irene Barton of Ardmore, PA; Thelma Rhoderick of Frederick, MD; and Miss Joanne Barton, at home. Also, two brothers, Harry N. Barton of Clearfield and Edward Barton of Crystal Springs; and one sister, Mrs. A. L. Bryson of Breezewood.

He was a member of the McKendree Methodist church. Interment was made in the McKendree church cemetery.
