Hazel A. Cole of Southbury, previously of Danbury, died Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at the River Glen Nursing Home in Southbury. She was 91.

Hazel was born in Danbury on February 1, 1917, the daughter of the late Alfred and Flora (Brush) Tilquist. She was a cake decorator for the New York Bake Shop in Danbury and she enjoyed gardening and cake decorating as her hobby.

She is survived by her husband, LeGrande O. Cole Sr. of Southbury; one son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Jillian Cole of Southbury; and one daughter, Cynthia L. Vogel of Newtown; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a niece and nephew.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a son, Lt. Commander LeGrande O. Cole Jr. USN; a son-in-law, Timothy E. Vogel; and one sister, June Ballard.

Friends called at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury Friday from 12 to 1 p.m. where a funeral service followed at 1 p.m.

Interment was in Wooster Cemetery in Danbury.

In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to VFW Post 149, 5 Byron Street, Danbury CT 06810.
