Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late James Lloyd and Winnie (Yorke) Alexander.


He was a retired electrician with CFB Debert with 25 years of service.


During the Second World War, he served overseas with the First Anti-Tank Regiment with the Italian Campaign. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Cobequid Branch 72, Great Village; Debert Baptist Church and was an adherent of Faith Baptist Church, Great Village.


He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and also repairing things for other people.


He is survived by his wife, the former Ileen O'Brien; daughters, Barbara and husband William Coombes, Onslow; Sandra Aikens, Truro; sons, Mitchell and wife Anne, Fort McMurray, Alta.; Timothy and wife Sheryl, Debert; Stephen and wife Rhonda, Toronto, Ont.; brothers, Angus, Debert; Gordon, Edmonton, Alta.; sisters, Irene (Mrs. Kenny Smith), Great Village; Betty (Mrs. Ray Crossman), Debert; Glenda Young, Stewiacke; grandchildren, Heather, Alexander (Sandy), Christopher, Krystal, Jimmy, John, Shawn;
