Richard H. Woosley Dead
Prominent Resident of Marshall Township Succumbs to Attack of the Grip.
---Richard H. Woolsey, a prominent, well known poineer[sic] resident of Convis township passed away last evening at 8:30 o'clock at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Medwin Getchell in Emmett township, northwest of Ceresco, where he and his aged wife have made their home for the past two years.
---Mr. Woolsey had been afflicted with rheumatism of the mucles[sic] for the past two years although his mind was perfectly clear. Last Thursday he was taken with a serious attack of the grip which resulted in his death.
---Mr. Woolsey was born April 30, 1835 in Senaca[sic] county, N. Y. and came to Michigan with his parents the late Daniel and Julanna Woolsey in 1836. The family located in Convis township where they resided for five or isx[sic] years and then took up their home on section eight in Marshall township where Mr. Woolsey has since resided until two years ago when he went to live with his daughter.
---He was married in 1860 and to this union two daughters were born. Mrs. Medwin Getchell of Emmett and Mrs. Frank Bell of Ceresco both of whom with the wife survive. He is also survived by one brother, Geo. S. Woolsey, and one sister, Mrs. A. J. Rowley, both residing in this city. Mrs. Woolsey and Mr. and Mrs. Getchell are are[sic] also confined to the house with the grip.
---The funeral will occur Saturday afternoon at one o'clock from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Getchell. Rev. W. S. Potter of the Presbyterian church of Battle Creek will officiate and the interment will be made in the Hotchkiss cemetery in Marshall township where his parents and other relatives are buried.

Another Marshall Pioneer Passes Away
Richard H. Woolsey Had Lived in this Vicinity for Nearly Three Quarters of Century
---Richard H. Woolsey, one of the pioneers of this vicinity died Wednesday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Medwin Gitchell of Emmett with whom he had made his home during the past two years.
---Mr. Woolsey had been practically helpless for two years, this condition being brought on by rheumatism of the muscles with which he had long been afflicted. Last Friday he was attacked by the grippe which left him too weakened to rally.
---Deceased was born in Covert, Seneca county, N. Y., April 30, 1835. He was a babe in arms when his parents came to Michigan in 1836, settling on a farm in Marshall township, five miles northwest of this city which is still the homestead. Richard was married in 1860 to Miss Harriet H. Huggett. They began life on a farm in the northern part of Convis, later moving to the farm in north Marshall now owned by G. A. Pond. About twenty-five years ago they removed to the old homestead which was their home until they removed to the home of their daughter, Mrs. Gitchell.
---Mr. Woolsey is survived by the wife, who is also prostrated with the same disease which was fatal to her husband, and two daughters, Mrs. Gitchell and Mrs. Frank Bell of Ceresco. G. S. Woolsey and Mrs. Mary J. Rowley of this city, are brother and sister of the deceased.
---The funeral arrangements have not been completed but the interment will be made in the Hotchkiss cemetery.

The funeral of Mr. Richard Woolsey was largely attended on Saturday at the home of M. Gitchell in Emmett. The floral offerings were profuse showing the esteem in which the deceased was held. Burial in the Hotchkiss.
