The Rev. Lauren Buzynski will conduct the funeral services for Florian J. Placzek, 79, at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Rosary will be 7:30 p.m. Monday at McKown Funeral Home where the body will lie in state after 1 p.m. Monday. Burial will be held in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
Music was by Sister Florina, selection was Prayer of St. Francis.
Pallbearers were the six sons: Joe, Leo, Ted, Ambrose, Florian, Jr. and Jim Placzek. Florian will be remembered as a loving husband, father and good friend to those
who knew and loved him.
Mr. Placzek, of 1404 8th St., died Friday at the Omaha Veterans Hospital in Omaha after an illness of 2 1/2 mos.
He was born to John and Agnes (Liss) Placzek of Tarnov. World War I veteran, he married Balbina J. Zoucha, Feb 11,1920 in Tarnov, where he farmed for 25 yrears.
Moving to Columbus in 1942, he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad fro 20 yrs. and was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife: six sons, Joe of Grandview, WA, Leo, Ted and Ambrose of Columbus, Florian,Jr. and James of Omaha; four daughters, Mrs. John(Terry)
Dush, of Silver Creek, Mrs. Glen(Minnie) White of Grandview, WA, Mrs. Ralph(Vi) Kanitz, of Buena Park, CA, Mrs. Clarence(Mary Ann) Zelasney of Omaha, 35
grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death were a son, Bernard; two daughters, Virginia and Sally Jane; parents; three brothers, Tony, Pete, and Mike: three sisters, Sister Solana OSF,
Rose Torczon, and Sophie Borys.
