CIVIL WAR VETERAN DEAD.
Following an illness of some time, the death of Joseph T. Cannon took place at his home at 184 Howland avenue yesterday. Mr. Cannon was in his 86th year. He was a veteran of the American Civil War, in which he served with the Confederate army in the artillery in front of the Old Point Comfort in Vigrinia and took part in the famous battle between the Mondar and the Merrimae. Mr Cannon was born in Norfolk, Virginia and came to this city twenty years ago. The late Mr Cannon was a first cousin of one of the most striking figures in the United States Congress, "Uncle Joe" Cannon, former speaker of the house of representatives. Mr Cannon is survived by his widow who is 76 years of age and one son, Joseph P Cannon who is the president of the Standard Mining Exchange.
