He is survived by his wife of 54 yrs, Dolores...Son's: Randy, Patrick and Douglas: grandchildren,Elizabeth and Tre, Theresa Rose, Mike and Niles...also survived by his twin brother Gene and younger brother George...For more then 50yrs , Jack served Tacoma-Pierce County as a skilled carpenter , apprenticeship trainer, union leader, school adviser and college trustee...He helped to build over 100 structures in the Tacoma-Pierce County area, including his home in Puyallup...According to Jack, one of his biggest achievements was to become the Carpenter's Union business representative...Over the years, Jack's union activities include:the Recording Secretary of the Wa State Council of Carpenters and Pacific Coast Metal Trades, South and West Puget Sound/Grays Harbor District Council of Carpenters and Capital District Joint Appropraitions Committee...He fulfilled those duties for 12 years, retiring in 1994...In 1995 the Governor appointed Jack to serve as a Trustee for Bate Technical College...On October 14,2004, Jack was honored for his lifetime commitment to Bates Technical College and the community and the Tacoma Mayor declared this day as "Jack Skanes Day"
