George was born and raised in San Francisco and enlisted in the Marines 6 December 1965, at the San Francisco Recruiting Office.
Sgt Ramos arrived in Vietnam 19 September 1967, where he was assigned as the Supply Sgt with H&S Company, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division.
George was briefly assigned to Echo Company to a forward supply point, at Camp Eagle to relieve a Marine scheduled to go on R & R.
George died as a result of gunshot wounds to the head and body from small arms fire, during a night assault on the company perimeter by hostile forces in the vicinity of Highway QL-9 and 4 kilometers south southeast of the Khe Sanh
Airfield. Several Marines died during the enemy assault.
George was single and served his country for 2 years, 4 months and 25 days and KIA #28,909.
He had been in Vietnam for 8 months and 12 days.
George was 20 years and 6 months old.
Survived by his parents; Victor H and Juanita Nava Ramos of 830 Alvarado, San Francisco, CA and his sister; Guadalupe Swartz and two brothers; Daniel and Victor Ramos Jr of San Francisco, CA.
Sgt Ramos was buried 22 June 1968 with military honors.
