She was born in Malone, N.Y., on Nov. 6, 1923, and was the daughter of Michael and Emma (Bruneau) Benware. She received her education in local schools.
Harriet had been employed as a seamstress for the former Thomson Mills in Bennington for many years.
She enjoyed sewing, cross stitch, knitting and crocheting. She took great pride in the many items that she had made for each of her grandchildren. Harriet enjoyed listening to country and western music and watching game shows on TV.
She married Warren Philpott in Bennington. Mr. Philpott predeceased her.
Survivors include four children, Thelma Gillingham and her husband, Charles, of St. Regis Falls, N.Y., Janet Galush of Bennington, Howard McFaul, Jr. of Malone, N.Y., and Paul Williams and his wife, Shirley, of Lake Titus, N.Y. She leaves eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by all of her brothers and sisters, as well as one son and one grandson.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Graveside services will be held Wednesday March 13, at 2 p.m. at Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington. There are no calling hours scheduled.
