Dilworth, Aug. 21, 1903
Aug. 24.-The Pale Boatman again visited the Kridler home this morning at 4:00 o'clock bearing Mr. Edgar Kridler far away across the Mystic river. Only three weeks ago today since the long procession moved slowly bearing his fathers remains to that silent city and today at 5:00 in the afternoon his eldest son was laid beside him. Edgar was well was well known here and was quite popular among the young people. His death came as a shock to all, for, while ill, he was deemed not dangerously so.
Cut down just as the star of his manhood was brightest, just as life's possibilities openedout before him makes his demise sad indeed. To his grief strief stricken mother, sister and brothers, the hearts of the friends go out in sympathy bidding them know.
"And thou, who o'er thy ;oved low bier
Sheddest the bitter drops like rain,
Know that a brighter, happier sphere
Will give him to thy arms again.
For God hath marked each sorrowing day,
And numbered every secret tear,
And Heaven's long age of bliss shall pay
For all his children suffer here."
