Son of Philipp Armbruster and Anna Barbara Rimmele. Husband of Katharina Haegele. He was a famous scenic artist and operated Armbruster Scenic Studios in Columbus, converting the Clinton Chapel (on North High Street in Clintonville) into his family's residence. Many of the streets in that area were named by him after the Wagner Ring Operas.
