Delilah moved in a prairie schooner with her family from Ohio to a farm near Yorktown, Illinois when she was seven. Her father died when she was nine and her mother when she was fifteen. Five of her siblings were deaf from scarlet fever, and it was said that she was the only one who could communicate with them and kept the family together following their mother's death. She married Edgar G. Aldrich, November 17, 1864 in Bureau County. They lived in Tampico and had four children, Addie, Claude, Jennie and Elma. Edgar and Delilah were divorced. She later married Lewis L Griffin, February 23, 1898 in Tampico. She supported herself by operating a millinery shop in Tampico for over 30 years. She raised her two grandsons Leslie and Volney Miller following the death of their mother Elma. She died at Volney's home in Rock Falls and was buried in Tampico Memorial Cemetery next to her daughters Jennie and Elma.
