James R. Peck died on Sunday (3/10/2013) at his home in De Kalb.

He was born on October 26, 1923 in Fowler, the son of Russell and Belle Marsales Peck. He attended school in Hailesboro and Gouverneur. On October 20, 1947, he married Sarah Grace Gilbert. Sarah passed away December 28, 2011.

The couple lived in Fowler until 1967 when they moved to the River Road near Richville. He worked as a farmer most of his life and worked for the Town of Fowler in the highway department. He also trucked cattle for local farmers many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and working hard on the farm.

He was survived by two sons, Roger and Janet Peck of Virginia Beach, VA and Gilbert and Claire Peck of DeKalb; two daughters, Elizabeth and Charles Holland of Watertown, and Elaine and Dennis Matthews of Hermon; and 11 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
