Mary Madeline Adkins, 78 of Hinton, died at 12:10 p.m. Tuesday March 12, 2013 at Summers County A.R.H. Hospital in Hinton following a long illness.
Born June 5, 1934 in Hinton, she was the daughter of the late Carl Junior and Croney Ellen Martin Adkins.
Mrs. Adkins was a former employee of Pipestem State Park in the housekeeping department. She was a former housekeeper for E.M. Meadows Funeral Home in Hinton and several area residents. Mary was a lifelong resident of Summers County and attended the Hinton Gospel Tabernacle as long as her health permitted.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold "Buster" Adkins. Also by a daughter, Louella Adkins, twin infant brothers, sister, Kathleen Adkins, daughter-in-law, Joyce Adkins, granddaughter, Angelia Adkins and four great grandchildren.
Survivors include three sons, Dickie Adkins of Hinton, Ducky Adkins & wife Debbie of Hinton and Nickie Adkins & wife Rhonda of Woodrumtown. Four daughters, Judy Epperly & husband Doug of Nimitz, Brenda Trout & husband Ralph of Hinton, Deloris Cook & companion Nick DeGroff of Hinton and Lisa Buckland & husband Ronnie of Hinton. One brother, Harold Adkins & wife Betty of Hinton. One sister, Barbara Adkins of Hinton. Sixteen grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren and five great, great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday March 15, 2013 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Dallas Peyton officiating. Burial will follow in the Adkins Family Cemetery near Hinton. Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
