He was born on July 24, 1953 in Macomb IL to Jack D. and Philena (Morgan) Harlan. He married his High School sweet heart Patricia A. Johnson on March 13, 1976 at the Avon Gospel Chapel. He went to be with her on what would have been their 37 year anniversary.
Jack enjoyed raising his children and spending time together as a family. He was an avid church attender. He touched many lives in the community and loved his second family, the Galesburg Christian School. Through his sickness he brought his family and members of the community closer to our savior Jesus Christ.
Jack graduated from Abingdon High School in 1972. He also worked 33 years and retired from the Maytag Corporation in Galesburg. He was a member Bethel Baptist Church in Galesburg.
Surviving are his loving children, Jack C. (and Frances) Harlan, Jr. of Knoxville, Patrick (and Jennifer) Harlan, Justin (and Karina) Harlan, Brett Harlan and Brittney Harlan all of Galesburg; his brother, William (and Carla) Harlan of Moline.
He is also survived by ten grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia A. Harlan; mother Philena A. Harlan; father Jack D. Harlan and his brother Joey Harlan.
As Jack requested, cremation will be accorded. Celebration of life will be at 11:00 a.m Monday, March 18, 2013 at Bethel Baptist Church, 1196 N. Academy St. in Galesburg. Pastor Kirk Kendall will officiate.
Visitation with family will be one hour before the service on Monday at the church. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Brittney Nicole Harlan college fund.
