Mr. Norvell, employed by the Gibson County Sheriff's Department, died Saturday, January 14, 2006, at Gibson General Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry Norvell of Trenton; two children, Drew Norvell and Joey Norvell; his mother, Shirley Norvell of Trenton; grandfather, Louis Riggs of Dresden; two brothers, Robert Norvell and John Norvell, both of Trenton; and one sister, Janet Turbeville of Dresden.
Mr. Norvell was a member of the Springhill Volunteer Fire Department. He served as Gibson County School District S.R.O. (School Resource Officer) and D.A.R.E. instructor; he also was a bookkeeper and announcer for the Gibson County High School basketball program for some 20 years.

SENATE BILL NO. 3807
AN ACT to name a segment of State Route 104 in Gibson County in honor of Deputy Roger Norvell.
WHEREAS, a person of impeccable morals and irreproachable integrity, Roger Norvell worked assiduously to establish a brighter future for the good people of Gibson County; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Norvell served his fellow citizens faithfully and energetically in numerous capacities; and
WHEREAS, as a permanent memorial to the life of purpose and commitment that Roger Norvell led, this general assembly desires to name that segment of State Route 104 in Gibson County from Log Mile 0.00, which is the Dyer County-Gibson County line, to Log Mile 7.64, which is the intersection of State Route 104 with Milligan Lane-Gumwoods Road, in honor of Mr. Norvell; now, therefore,
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:
It is hereby designated the "Deputy Roger Norvell Memorial Highway" as a lasting tribute to an excellent public servant and even more accomplished human being.
