VERLIE W. STEWART
Verlie William Stewart, youngest of seven children of William B. Stewart and Anna M. Bennett Stewart, was born November 8, 1910 in Adams County, Nebraska. At an early age he was baptized in the Christian Church of Strang, Nebr.
He was married to Beulah Young on July 26, 1929. To this union were born four children, Patricia and Donald, and two sons who died in infancy.
On December 8, 1953 he was united in marriage to Doris Law Woodson.
He passed away December 29, 1970 at the University Hospital in Omaha, at the age of 60 years, one month and 21 days. Most of his adult life was spent in Thayer County.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Walter and Arthur; one sister, Ada Hall; his wife, Beulah; and two infant sons, Bobbie and Billie.
Survivors are his wife, Doris, daughter, Patricia and son-in-law, Lee Bliss of Hebron; son, Don and daughter-in-law, Barbara of Glover, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; three sisters; Mrs. Gertrude Hake, Bakersfield, Calif.; Mrs. Pearl Thornburgh, Billings, Montana; Mrs. Eva Wynn, Junction City, Ks.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Jan. 2, 1971 in the Tibbetts-Cotter Chapel in Alexandria, with Rev. Bryce A. Hecht officiating.
Honorary pallbearers were: Jack Anstine, Roscoe Beachler, Merle Brinegar, Ben Fritchie, Clinton Oliver, George Otteman, Albert Sinn and Herman Zuehlsdorf.
Pallbearers were: Charles Nedza, Donald Strain, Emmitt Polage, Fred Jackson, Rex Johnson and John Culp.
Interment was in Harmony Cemetery, Strang, Nebr.
