In 1946, Arnett met and married his wife Lee Ester Wallace, a maid at the Famous Elliot Hotel. Arnett was a bellman and "gofer" for Mr. Elliot, the owner of the Famous Elliot Hotel. The two started a restaurant business and continued Bracy's Burger for over 40 years. Their establishment was well known to many in Odessa and surrounding cities. Doc and Lee were well known for their homemade chili recipe and half wiener chilidogs, not to mention those famous 'jack' cookie ice cream sandwiches. Bracy's Burger was located in the 'flats' its first location, on south Muskingum Street in south Odessa, next to then, Douglas Elementary School. The Bracys decided to move to the 'new addition,' their second business located on south Dixie across from Blackshear High School. Bracy's Burger continued until Doc's illness and later death in 1986 when the business closed its doors.
Lee Ester and Doc built the first skating rink next to their home in the "new addition." Later the building was changed to a beauty school operated as Wilson's Beauty School and presently is an apartment complex.
"Bracy's Burger" was recognized by the Black Chamber of Commerce of the Permian Basin,
He is preceded in death by: father,mother, 4 brothers and 3 sisters. He is survived by his wife Lee Ester and a host of other relatives and friends.
