ALICE LEONOWICZ

Alice M. Leonowicz, age 82, formerly of County Road CR, died on Wednesday morning, Feb. 6, 2008, at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc.

She was born on Sept. 24, 1925, in Newton, daughter of the late William and Hulda (Rambadt) Awe. On Sept. 7, 1946, she married Edward J. Leonowicz at St. Isidore Catholic Church, Osman. He preceded her in death on Jan. 15, 1992.

Alice was a member of St. Francis of Assisi. She was an excellent cook and was known for her potato pancakes.

She was preceded in death by a grandson: Nathan; a great-grandson: Ethan; a brother: Edmund Awe and his wife, LaVerne; three sisters and a brother-in-law: Lily and Norma Awe; and Ruth Irick and her husband, Clayton; three brothers-in-law: Joseph Leonowicz and his wife, Theresa; Henry Leonowicz and his wife, Grace; and Russell Wellner; and a sister-in-law: Margie Awe.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008, at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Monsignor Jim VandenHogen. Cremation has occurred, with entombment of the cremated remains at Knollwood Mausoleum, Manitowoc, at a later date.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, Manitowoc, from 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008, until the time of service at 11 a.m. The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. (private) and his staff, Aurora Medical Center and the nursing staff at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, for the wonderful care extended to Alice and her family.
