Mr. Barneck was a member of the Salina fire department for 27 years, retiring as assistant fire chief in 1937. He married Anna Turnbull Langworthy July 6, 1937 and moved to Atchison to live with his new wife who had been residing there since 1913.

He died at home, 1017 South Fifth, after being ill for four months.

He belonged to the Lutheran church, the Masonic lodge and Consistory, and to the Isis shrine.

He was survived by his brothers, Alex and Ernest of Salina, Kansas, and Fred of Salt Lake City, Utah. Alex attended his Atchison funeral along with George's widow and many members of her family. Alex accompanied the widow and her daughter to Salina for burial and Masonic services.
