WILLIAM DIAMOND MANTHEY

William Diamond Manthey, age 78, died peacefully with his children at his side on Saturday morning, Oct. 27, 2007.

He was born on Jan. 5, 1929, in Manitowoc, son of the late Julius and Dorothy (Donahue) Manthey. Bill was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Army Infantry, and was the recipient of the Bronze Service Star and Korean Service Medal. On Aug. 29, 1951, he married the former Margaret M. Henfer at St. Luke Catholic Church, Two Rivers.

Bill owned Olives Floral Shoppe in Manitowoc for many years and was an artistic floral designer his entire life. He was a past member of the Manitowoc Elks, Lions and Sacred Heart Athletic Club.

He was preceded in death by a son: William (Billy) P. Manthey, and three brothers: Harland, Neil and Gerald Manthey.

A private Irish service celebrating his life was held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2, 2007, at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, Manitowoc. Presiding at the celebration was the Rev. Dan Felton with entombment of the cremated remains at Knollwood Mausoleum, Manitowoc. Military rites were accorded by VFW Otto Oas Post 659. The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, assisted the family with funeral arrangements.

Bill's children would like to sincerely thank the entire staff at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center and Shady Lane Nursing Care Center for their loving care of their father. A very special thank you to Dr. Roy Ozanne for his sincere concern for our father and his knowledge of Homeopathy.
