FUNERAL RITES HELD FOR U.C. MAN

BERKELEY, Oct. 11. - The University of California football squad and hundreds of students of the University of California participated in a memorial service for G. A. Blewett, the freshman fullback, who died Monday morning from injuries received in a football game Saturday. The memorial service was held this morning at 8 o'clock in Newman hall, and the students and friends of the young man paid him a last tribute.
Blewett sustained a broken right leg in the game Saturday and was removed to the Lane hospital in San Francisco for treatment. Sunday he became suddenly blind and gradually lost consciousness, and he died Monday morning despite efforts of a corps of physicians to save his life. The exact cause of his death is said to be a mystery.
The body was sent to Anaheim, near Los Angeles, his home, Monday evening, and the funeral was held there yesterday. Blewett was a member of the Delta Upsilon fraternity.
