Mrs. Colbert was married to Wm. Colbert in 1867, in Lincoln county. She was a member of the Christian church at Hawk Point, Mo., and was baptized by Bro. Ford.
Mrs. Colbert was engaged in the hotel business about twenty years. She was always kind, and gave a helping hand to all with whom she came in contact. She was meek and gentle in her manner, and to know her was to love her. She bore her sickness with all the patience of a true Christian woman. During her last sickness she expressed herself as being ready and willing to go.
She leaves to mourn her death an aged mother and three children, James Colbert, of Alton, Ill, Mrs. C. W. Brandes, of Troy, and Mrs. H. E. Wright, of Troy, four grandchildren, two sisters and two brothers.
After a very impressive service conducted by Bro. Merrill at her home, she was laid to rest in the city cemetery at Troy. To the dear children, I would like to say: Lean on the strong arm of Jesus. And to the dear children: pluck a rose from the bouquet of moother's life and weave it as a garland into yours. D.M.E. uncited
