WEST LIBERTY, Iowa--Francis I. Henderson, 65, died on Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2013, at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. Burial will take place in North Prairie Cemetery, West Liberty.
Visitation will be from 2 until 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2013, at the funeral home.
Francis was born on September 19, 1947, in Atlantic, the daughter of Benjamin C. Pigsley Sr. and Mabel Swolley Pigsley. She attended West Liberty High School. On November 26, 1966, she was united in marriage to William Henderson in Iowa City.
She had been a homemaker most of her life, working for several years at Hawker Nursing Home, Simpson Memorial Home and Hobb's Feather Company.
She was very active in Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, receiving numerous awards. She enjoyed camping, crocheting, music, genealogy and served as the family historian for many years.
She is survived by her husband, William Henderson of West Liberty; three children: B.J. Henderson and wife, Jennifer, of Tipton, Debrorah Quick of Eldon, Missouri, and Angela Henderson of Wilton; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one expected great-grandchild; two brothers: Benjamin Pigsley Jr. of Cape Code, Maryland, and Harry Pigsley of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, and a sister, Lyla Halstead of Tipton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Prince Pigsley; and a sister, Tereesa Atkins.
