CEDAR FALLS—Elmer W. Larsen, 78, of 1612 W. Seventh St. died Tuesday March 3, at the Flagstaff Medical Center in Flagstaff, Ariz., of natural causes.

He was born Oct. 31, 1913, in Spokane, Wash., son of Laurits and Pauline Larsen. He married Laura E. Pinkham on Sept. 9, 1938 in Owatonna, Minn. She died April 26, 1975. He married Luella Hovden on Oct. 4, 1975 in Cedar Falls.

Before his retirement in 1975, Mr. Larsen was a building contractor in the Cedar Falls area. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He held many offices in the local and state Masonic lodges, including past grand high priest of Iowa.

He is survived by his wife; a son John Larsen of Rockford Ill.; a daughter Mary B. Farmer of Eldora; a stepson, Alex Hovden of Cedar Falls; a stepdaughter, Cynthia Albright of Duluth, Minn.; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild; a sister Frances Wallace of Lake San Marcos, Calif.; he was preceded in death by a brother, Russell and a sister, Edith Johnson.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A Masonic service will be 7 p.m. today at the Dahl-VanHove-Schoof Funeral Home, when the family will be present. Memorial will be established.
