A famous Toronto ghost story continues to circulate to this day about a mistress that Robert kept in a series of secret rooms in the Christie Mansion in Queen's Park. Apparently after awhile, he stopped visiting her as frequently and she supposedly went insane and hung herself, after which, he disposed of the body. After that time, his personal and business fortunes started to decline and he eventually sold the family business to Nabisco.
To this day there is no hard evidence to support the story, but there is a secret Room #29 in the mansion and there can be heard the sounds of doors slamming and locking - even when there is nobody else present.
