Pappy passed away on December 14, 2005 in San Diego. Pappy was born in Odebolt, Iowa on June 18, 1910. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1933 and began his career with The Allen- Bradley Company in Milwaukee, Wisc., eventually retiring in 1970 as president and CEO.
He served on the board of directors for the M&I Bank Milwaukee, Iowa State University Foundation as governor and executive committee member, Greater Milwaukee Open PGA Golf Tournament, Milwaukee Chamber of Commerce, The Boys and Girls Club and was chairman of the Wisconsin Solid Waste Recycling Commission.
In the mid 1980s Pappy moved to Rancho Santa Fe. While residing in RSF he was active with the Rancho Santa Fe Foundation, the Rancho Santa Fe Senior Center, Public Interest Committee and the Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Frances (Walker), Mary (Van Atta), daughter Jane Weatherbee, three sisters and one brother.
He is survived by a son, William (Jeanne) Brookfield, Wisc., stepdaughter Cornelia Baer, Ventura, Calif., grandchildren Michael (Jennifer) Hauck, Cincinnati, Ohio, Jennifer (Stephen) Schied, Annapolis, MD, Todd (Andrea) Boyer, San Jose, Calif., Geoffrey Boyer, San Francisco, Calif., Kathy (Dr. Michael) Sage, Anchorage Alaska, Marianne Baer, Boise, Idaho.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 3rd, at 4 p.m. at the Village Church, 6225 Paseo Delicias, Rancho Santa Fe, (858-756-2441). Memorial contributions may be made to the Rancho Santa Fe Foundation, Arloe W. Paul Endowment Fund, PO Box 811 Rancho Santa Fe, Ca 92067.
