KENNETH OWENS
Kenneth M. Owens, age 83, of 1604 21st St., Two Rivers, died peacefully Friday evening, Feb. 8, 2008, at the Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers.
Ken was born July 3, 1924, in Two Rivers, son of the late Roderick and Elsie (Mertens) Owens, and was a lifelong Two Rivers resident. He attended St. John's Lutheran School, and Washington High School, Two Rivers, graduating with the class of 1942. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army in the Battle of the Bulge, entering on May 25, 1943, and honorably discharged on Nov. 3, 1945.
On May 7, 1949, he was married to Germaine Kirchman, in Two Rivers.
Kenny was employed as a machinist with Kaufman Mfg. of Manitowoc for 38 years, retiring in 1988.
He was a lifetime member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Two Rivers, where he sang with the church choir. He also was a member of the Two Rivers Senior Center, and a very active member of the Lakeshore Pedalers bicycle club for more than 20 years. Kenny also enjoyed ice boating for many years, having built and sailed several ice boats.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. David Scherbarth, with entombment to follow in Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, Hwy. 310, Manitowoc. Military graveside rites will be accorded by members of the VFW and American Legion Posts of Two Rivers.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, until the time of service at 11 a.m. There will be no Monday evening visitation. Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, 1506 18th St., Two Rivers, is assisting the Owens family with funeral arrangements.
