Kenneth Lemoyne Davis, 509 West Highland Ave in Carthage, MO. passed away at Burge Protestant Hospital in Springfield, Missouri after having been admitted 24 days earlier, losing a battle with cancer. He had been an accountant for an engineering firm. His wife Ellen McCarroll Davis survived him, later passing away in 2000.
He was a veteran of World War II
His parents were Phillip Barnhart Davis and Josephine Draves Davis.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Ulmer Funeral Home and burial in Park Cemetery

KENNETH L. DAVIS, 45, WELL-KNOWN RESIDENT SUCCUMBS

Kenneth Lemoyne Davis, 45, well-known Carthage resident died at 1:40 this morning in Burge Protestant Hospital in Springfield. He had been in failing health since last October. His condition became critical December 18, when he was moved from his home at 509 West Highland to the Springfield Hospital.
Although he made his home in Carthage, Mr. Davis was an accountant for Frank Horton and Company in Lamar. He had been with that firm since 1946.

Born February 11, 1915 in Golden City, Mr. Davis' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Phil B. Davis, moved to Colorado when the son was a small boy. Later they went to South Dakota and came to Carthage in 1939 from Minnesota.
Kenneth Davis was graduated from South Dakota State College at Brookings when the family lived in that state.
He was married May 24, 1942 to Miss Ellen McCarroll of Carthage.
Mr. Davis was a communicant of Grace Episcopal church. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Carthage Masonic Lodge No. 197 A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite bodies of Joplin and of Abou Ben Adhem Shrine, Springfield.

A veteran of World War II, Mr. Davis served in the Pacific theater with the 302nd Fighter Control Squadron, U.S. Army Air Force.
Surviving are his wife; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip B. Davis of 607 East Fifteenth street; a brother, Phillip J. Davis, San Jose, CA., Ben Davis, Purcell and John Davis, Lamar are uncles and Mrs. George Rohm and H. B. Davis of Carthage are cousins of Mr. Davis. Miss Ruth McCarroll and Clarence McCarroll of Carthage are sister and brother of Mrs. Davis.
Funeral services will be at Ulmer Funeral Home. The Rev. Vincent C. Root, rector of Grace Episcopal church, will officiate. Burial will be in Park Cemetery.
