Connor.
William Connor, mention of whose death was given in the By-Stander yesterday, was born March 9, 1841 [sic], and died May 26, 1921, at his home eight miles north of Blandinsville. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Christian church in Blandinsville, with Rev. Gillam officiating and Rev. Catlin assisting. Interment will be in the Blandinsville mausoleum.
Mr. Connor was married November 22, 1895, to Miss Melissa Spiker. Besides Mrs. Connor, three daughters survive, being: Mrs. Mary Sliger, of Carthage; Mrs. Allie Smith, LaHarpe; and Mrs. Alta Knapp of Blandinsville.~The Quill, page 1

A large number of relatives and friends in LaHarpe attended the funeral Sunday afternoon at Blandinsville of William Connor of the Old Bedford neighborhood. Mr. Connor died Thursday evening, May 26, 1921, at his home, aged 76 years, 2 months and 16 days, after suffering a stroke of apoplexy. the body was placed in the Blandinsville mausoleum.
Deceased was born March 9, 1845 and has been a resident of near Blandinsville for many years. He was one of the best known farmers in the vicinity and was highly respected by the many who were acquainted with him.
He is survived by his wife whose maiden name was Malissa Spike and three daughters, Mrs. Mary Sliger of Carthage, Mrs. Allie Smith of LaHarpe and Mrs. Alta Knapp of Blandinsville.~1846 is the year of birth on the plaque in the mausoleum, but census records except for 1850, when he was shown at age 6, uniformly suggest 1845. The base date for censuses from 1850 through 1900, was June 1. The base date for the 1910 census was April 15, and for the year 1920 it was January 1. The age of each individual was supposed to be recorded as of the base date.
