John Repenn, 55, of 2812 School St., Two Rivers, retired Coast Guardsman who served in World War II, died Saturday night at the U.S. Veterans Administration Hospital, Wood, Wis.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels and at 10 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Two Rivers, the Rev. Paul Schumacher officiating. Burial will be in Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Town of Kossuth.
Mr. Repenn was born April 7, 1917, at Algoma, son of the late Edwin and Inga Hansen Repenn. When he was a youth the family brought him to Two Rivers where he was graduated from Washington High School. He entered the Coast Guard in 1941, receiving his basic training in the Hawaiian Islands and later served in Admiral Byrd's Antarctic expedition to the South Pole. In 1955, he was transferred to officer-in-charge of the Rawley Point (Twin River Point) Light Station. He retired in 1963 after a brief tour of duty at Menominee, Mich. He married Joan Filliez June 10, 1944, at Two Rivers.
Besides his wife he leaves two daughters and two sons Survivors omitted for privacy.); six sisters, Mrs. Mae Knocke, Mrs. Le Roy Andresen and Mrs. Robert Ehlers, of Wheatland, Iowa, Mrs. Melvin Porath, of Sheboygan and Mrs. Dale McManaman and Mrs. Clarence Peteresen, of Milwaukee; and two grandchildren.
Friends may call at the funeral chapels from 4 o'clock until 9 o'clock this Monday evening where memorial services will be at 8 o'clock.
