Virgle Lee Cunningham was the son of William Franklin Cunningham and Tobitha (Mars) Cunningham.

He married Lora Ethel Phillips on June 12, 1932 in Glasscock Co., TX.

He retired from Pan American Oil Company in 1969 after 26 years of service.

Virgle was a Boy Scout Troop Master for 20 years and received the Order of the Arrow Award for his dedication to Scouting. He was quick to take the family camping at every opportunity. He was a Sunday School teacher and mentor for teen boys and was a member of First Baptist Church, Odessa, TX.

Virgle was an avid fan of Odessa High School Football and attended every game possible - and when he could not attend, he never missed the game on the radio.


He had three children:

Douglas Earl Cunningham
Kenneth Dean Cunningham
