ALVIN W. SCHMIDT

Alvin W. Schmidt, age 85, a resident of Hamilton Memorial Home, formerly of 2602 River Hills Road, Two Rivers, Passed away Wednesday morning, November 16, 1994, at Hamilton Memorial Home.

He was born May 22, 1909, in Chicago, Ill., son of the late Gustave and Rosaline (née Pawlitzke) Schmidt.

He married Kathryne L. Walczak October 22, 1938, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Two Rivers, where they have remained members.

Al was employed by Hamilton Industries as a Design Engineer and Planning Director from 1935 until his retirement. His rich and full life included his enjoyment in clubs and organizations which he took great pride in, the Manitowoc County Gladiolus Society and Men's Garden Club which he held various offices and received special awards, the North American Gladiolus Council which he served as state judge for many years, the Silver K serving as a past president, the American Radio Relay League and was an avid broadcast ham radio operator known as, "K-9 DIN". Al's special achievement being speaking to every country in the world.

Al's love of nature and beauty shown bright throughout his life with everything he did. He always had a welcoming smile with warm "greetings". A dream come true for him had been perfecting a hybrid of gladiolus which he so fittingly name Beau-Kay. Though he will be truly missed by his family and friends we thank the Lord for blessing us with this special man who touched our lives like only he could.

Survivors include his wife, Kay, Two Rivers; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Sandy Schmidt, Green Bay; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Darwin Hannah, Two Rivers; a brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Gerry Schmidt, Green Bay; three sisters, Olga Sanderson, Green Bay, Betty Riemer, Denmark, Dorothy Dodds, Port Washington; special grandchildren, Wendy Kozlowski, Two Rivers, David and Teresa Kozlowski, Two Rivers, Jim and John Schmidt, Elkhorn, and Britteny Schmidt, Green Bay; precious great-grandchildren, Kyle, Eric and Ricky Kozlowski, Ashley Schmidt; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Vera LaFond, Two Rivers, Margaret and Stanley Chriske, West Chicago, Illinois, Dorothy and Alex Szalai, Milwaukee, Richard and Marion Walczak; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, David Kozlowski and three brothers-in-law, Dewey Sanderson, Charles Riemer and Aelred LaFond.

Funeral Services will be held at the Klein and Stangel Funeral Home, Two Rivers, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Knollwood Mausoleum.
