4th Massachusetts Regiment, Cavalry, Company B. Died at Fort Monroe, Virginia.

Aiken enlisted on 9-25-1861 as a private. He was promoted to full bugler. He re-enlisted on 10-2-1861 in Company G of the 24th Mass. Infantry. Received a disability discharge on 8-8-1862.

Enlisted in Co. G of the 3rd Mass. Infantry Regiment 9-26-1862. Mustered out at Camp Hooker, Lakeville, Mass on 6-26-1863. Enlisted in Company B, 4th Mass Cavalry Regiment, 12-21-1863.

Died of disease 2-10-1865 at Fort Monroe, Virginia, of disease.Interred Hampton National Cemetery, Virginia, grave 158. He was 33 years old.

Listed on the New Bedford City Council's "Roll of Honor" which lists those soldiers and sailors from the Greater New Bedford Area who were killed or died during the Civil War. New Bedford City Council, May, 1869.
