Funeral services for Marion Walter Anderson Sr., of 696 Alexander Drive, Orangeburg, will held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at Mount Carmel Baptist Church, St. Matthews, with the Rev. Jerome Anderson officiating. Burial will be held in the church cemetery.
He died Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at the Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia.
Mr. Anderson was born Oct. 28, 1930, in Calhoun County, youngest child of the late Joseph Anderson and Annie B. Jackson-Anderson-Larrymore. He attended the Calhoun County public schools, and afterward completed a 4-year commitment in the United States Air Force. He was honorably discharged.
Partnering with his brother the Rev. Joseph Anderson, Anderson Florist became a flourishing business in New York City. This business was established in 1957, and was continued until his retirement, and he returned to South Carolina.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Sheila Marshall Anderson; one son, Marion Anderson Jr. of Silver Spring, Md.; four grandchildren, Brianna, Brandon and Bryan of Upper Marlboro, Md., and Phillip Gaddy of Amityville, N.Y.; one sister, Mrs. Wilhelmina A. Larrymore of St. Matthews; and a number of special nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
