Mrs. Ellen Jane Johson, widow of the late John W. Johnson, passed away at her home on Gardeau street on Friday morning, November 15th, after an illness of 11 weeks.
Ellen Jane Davnie was born in Auburn, NY, on December 21, 1850, and was united in marriage to John W. Johnson on July 4, 1870. her entire married life was spent in the town of Castile. Mrs. Johnson suffered a stroke about 12 years ago and has since been an invalid. She was of a sunny disposition and her life was full of patience and love. Every neighbor or friend who called upon her was greeted with a smile. She will be greatly missed in the home, but her life's influence is sweet to remember. For more than a year, she has been tenderly cared for by Mrs. Minnie Jenkins, who has proved her love and devotion for her. Mr. Johnson passed away on December 6th of last year, and the eldest daughter on October 16, 1926.
Eight children survive: George B., Frank S., Fred I., of Castile; James E. of Perry; Mrs. Addie Austin, Mrs. mary lee of Castile; Mrs. Sarah Patrick of Leicester and Mrs. Laura Chaffee of Perry; also 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
