Roman Catholic Bishop. He was the son of William Dillon Leech and Helen Mary Fitzsimons. He was educated at the Seminary of Saint Charles Borromeo, Overbrook, Philadelphia. After his ordination by Dennis Cardinal Dougherty on May 29, 1920, he continued studies at the Catholic University of America and received a doctorate in Canon Law. As a young priest, Leech served as Secretary at the Apostolic Delegation in Washington and later became pastor of Saint Patrick's Church, Pottsville. He was consecrated Auxiliary Bishop of Harrisburg in Philadelphia in 1935. Leech was appointed to the See of Harrisburg in 1935 at the death of Bishop McDevitt. Leech retired in 1971 and received the appointment of Bishop of Allegheny. He continued to reside at the Bishops' residence until his death in March 1985.
