Harry O. Byrnside, 83, of Scott Depot died at home on May 13, 2004.

He was born in Missouri on November 22, 1920, to Herbert and Pearl Higley Byrnside, and moved to Charleston as a young child. He lived in Cross Lanes for many years before moving to Scott Depot in 1973.

He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy. He worked for Quality Press in Charleston for several years and was retired from the U.S. Government. He was a member of the Cross Lanes United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Ruth Craig Byrnside.

Surviving: daughter, Judy Cobble and husband, George, of Eleanor; son, Denny and wife, Marilyn, of Cross Lanes; grandchildren, David Byrnside, Amanda Byus, Jason Byrnside and Christina Cobble; sisters, Anabelle Love of St. Albans, Betty Truman of Charleston and Helen Thumm of South Charleston.

Service was held Sunday, May 16, 2004, at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Hayes officiating. Burial with military rites was in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
