My son Stevie Samuel Castillo Jr, Had a tragic accident on March 10th 2013 just one day after his 10th birthday..This accident brought us to the PICU unit at UC Davis hospital..after nine days of the doctors and nursing staff doing all they could my son was pronounced Brain Dead. My son is a loving, caring. gentle boy full of life and curiosity. We are deeply saddened and heart broken by his loss. I sit here today still watching the machines pump breath into his lungs keeping his body preserved awaiting organ donation. To only thank god for the time, the wonderful times he allowed me with my child. The staff notified me today after all thier testing they were able to find 5 matches for my sons major organs. My sons wonderful kind heart will soon save the life of a sweet 9 year old boy that is a phase 1a recipient, meaning he has less than a week to live.. His liver to a 10 year old boy that was given less than 2 months to live. His kidneys to two separate children that have suffered dialysis treatments more than half their child lives.. Knowing the good that is to become of my loss has helped me to cope and understand more of my questioning, WHY?? I know that GOD has his plan, and no time on this earth is ever guaranteed.. I appreciate the ten years he allowed me to borrow his little angel, he has been nothing more than a delight and blessing in my life and every life he touched..he is my little HERO, and I can feel awesome to know that he will be thought of as one by others too.. I celebrate my sons life..and only look forward to the day we met again..
