Emma La France was born, per the 1900 Travis co. census in Feb. 1882 so this would make her birth month on her headstone a month off. Unless the census taker got it wrong in 1900. She was first married to James D. Parr (found once in a census with the middle initial W), Jan. 22, 1902 in Travis co., Tx. With him she had James D. (P is on headstone) Parr, Jr. April 3, 1904 in Austin, Tx. and twins Oscar Parr and Julius Parr Jan. 1, 1907 in Dunlap, Tx. James Parr, Jr. died July 14, 1924. Emma is with her parents, without her sons, in the 1910 Travis co. census. She is erroneously listed at widowed, which was customary then as to be separated or divorced was shameful. I have been unable to locate her husband and sons in 1910. In the 1920 Travis co. census she is back with her husband James Parr and sons. In the 1930 Travis co. census she is with her 2nd husband William S. Roberts and their 8 yr. old son William. The birthplace of her father is wrong. Should be France and not England. Also in the 1930 Travis co. census James Parr Sr.'s marital stat. is 'divorced'.
It has taken me a long time to run her down and it was with the help of a distant cousin who remembered that when she was a young girl a Emma Roberts lived with this cousins Uncle Dock (Bert) and Aunt Pauline (La France) Ross. She also remembered hearing Emma's husbands name was William Roberts. Also, I have been unable to locate any other information on James Parr, Sr. or the twins Oscar and Julius.
