Clarence W. Bryan, of Springfield and formerly a resident of Waverly, died Monday morning, March 12, at his home, at the age of 65 years.
Mr. Bryan was born April 18, 1890, at Litchfield, the son of the late James W. and Sarah Newman Bryan.
During his early life he resided in Waverly, and on April 10, 1915, was married to Miss Georgia Ford of this city, who preceded him in death in February, 1940.
During the time he resided in Waverly, Mr. Bryan conducted a grocery store, and also a restaurant. He was a veteran of World War I, and formerly was a member of Waverly American Legion Post. He was a member of the Waverly Masonic lodge at the time of his death. He had resided in Springfield for over thirty years.
He was married to Mrs. Essie Smith, who survives him, together with two sisters, Mrs. Ellis Harbour of Jacksonville and Mrs. Pearl Etter, of Salida, Colo.; four brothers, Paul M., of St. Louis, Walter, of Tucson, Ariz., Marlin, of Del Rio, Texas, and Charles C., of Jacksonville, Fla.; also a sister-in-law, Mrs. Miles Bryan of Franklin.
Funeral services were held at the O'Donnell Funeral home in Springfield, Wednesday morning at 10:00 o'clock, Rev. E. E. Laughlin officiating. Further services were held at the Neece Funeral Home in Waverly in the afternoon at 2:30, Rev. Ralph W. Fitch officiating.
Interment was in East cemetery.
