Melvis Ruth Witt McCay, age 73, of Vinemont, AL passed away on March 21, 2013. Born in Alabama she was the daughter of the late James Melvin and Julia Ruth Campbell Witt. She retired from the Birmingham News and enjoyed genealogy research. She also owned McCay Detective Agency and Elite Bail Bonding.
Besides her parents she is also preceded in death by husband, Ray McCay and sister, Becky McCay.
Mrs. McCay is survived by daughters, Anita McCay Pollard (Scotty) and Lulu McCay Wood (Greg); son, Mark McCay (Christy); grandsons, Tim Pollard and James Scott; granddaughters, Lisa Waller, Kimberly Wood and Ashley Sweeton; great grandchildren, Raygan Pollard, Lily Waller, Baye Wood; and brother, Richard Witt.
Calvin Butler will officiate funeral services on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at 2PM from the Chapel of Lemley Funeral Home with burial at Blount Memory Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at Lemley Funeral Home on Saturday, March 23, 2013 from 5:30PM until 8PM and on Sunday from 8AM until service time.
