She was born on August 6, 1955 to the late Edward and Dorothea Murphy. She is also predeceased by her sisters Dorothea Louise Coleman, Guyleen Murphy, Kathern Victoria Murphy and Dorothy Lee Murphy, father-in-law Lawrence A. Davis.
She is survived by her loving husband Laurence Davis, sons David W., Robert A., and James M. Davis. Sisters Elizabeth Leach (Charles), Marie Goldsmith (Ron) and Edwina Faverty (Butch), grandchildren Joey Chesley and Zachary Davis, Nieces Ronda Davis, Erin Leach, Amber Davis, nephews Eddie Coleman, Sean Leach, Ronnie Goldsmith and Jason Few, great niece Theresa Davis, great nephews Shane Davis, Ryan Davis and Drake Few, mother-in-law Agnes C. Davis and her brother-in-law John Davis.
Janet worked as a Bus Driver for Compton Bus Service and graduated from Lackey High School. She loved puzzle books and her grandchildren.

Janet Francis Murphy was baptized by Reginald B. Stevenson at Durham Church on Christmas Day 1955. She was confirmed March 10, 1974 when Rev. Arnold Taylor was rector. Janet Frances Murphy married Laurence "Larry" Delbert Davis at Durham Church on May 12, 1979. Rev. Arnold Taylor performed the ceremony. She was buried on March 22, 2013 in Durham Churchyard with Rev. Molly McCarty officiating.
