William J. "Jim" Desmond Jr., 68, of Wilmington, Delaware went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 6th, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. Jim was born on November 13th, 1943 and grew up in the 40 acres. He attended St. Ann's School, graduated from Salesianum and Goldey Beacom College. Jim worked for the DuPont Company and retired after 40 years of dedicated service.

Jim had a love for all sports and was an avid hunter and fisherman who truly enjoyed going to the bay. Jim was a lifetime member of the American Legion Charles E. Durney Post #27, a member of St. Anthony's Club and the Wacky Club, and was a past treasurer of the Catholic Men's Association.

Jim was a loving and devoted, son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He had a wonderful soul and will be missed by all who knew him. He was predeceased by his father, William J. "Bill" Desmond Sr. Jim was survived by his wife of 50 years, Patricia Wilkerson Desmond, his mother, Mrs. Rita Desmond, his daughter, Tammy Desmond, his son, Timothy J. Desmond, Sr., his daughter in law, Tracy Desmond, his grandchildren, Timothy J. Jr., Mark, Kristie, Brittany and Brenden, his sister, Frances Horowitz, and his brothers, John "Jack" Desmond & Thomas Desmond, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ann's Church, Gilpin and N. Union Sts., Wilmington, on Thursday, July 12th at 10:30am. Burial will be in the Cathedral Cemetery.
