Funeral of Erastus H Cole 79, who died Sunday morning at his home, 346 South Main St, following a four months' illnness, was held this afternoon at 2 at Higgins funeral home on Grove street.

Rev Wallace G Fiske, pastor of the Universalist church, officiated, and burial was in the North New Salem cemetery.

Mr Cole was born in Leverett and spent most of his younger life there. In Wendell and Millers Falls before coming to Orange to live 30 years ago.

He was a carpenter and also worked as a sawyer in steam mills in this section.

Mr Cole was a Spanish war veteran, having served throughout the war with CO E 2nd Massachusetts regiment.

Besides his widow, Ellen Gay Cole, he leaves five children, Waldo, Walter, Frank, Nora,and Lula, all of whom resdie in Millers Falls. He also leaves 12 grandchildren.
