BEAUFORT, SC-- Miss Mary Moseley Dobson, 96, died peacefully at her home in Beaufort on Friday, July 3, 2009. Born in Greer, SC, on July 8, 1912, she was the eldest daughter of the late Willie Mae Moseley Dobson and the late Eckford Sidney Dobson. She was a 1931 graduate of Winthrop College. She was the payroll supervisor for Fairforest Finishing Company, and after moving to Beaufort, the payroll supervisor for the Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Parris Island, SC.
Miss Dobson is lovingly survived by her sister, Jean Dobson (Mrs. Felix B.) Greene of the home; nieces Patricia Dobson Lamar of Columbia, SC, Barbara Dobson Edwards of Jacksonville, FL, Joan Dobson Whitlock of Spartanburg, SC, Suzanne Dobson Mickler of Ponta Vedra, FL, and Mary Martha Greene of Columbia; and one nephew, Sidney Randolph Dobson of Jacksonville, FL. In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by her beloved sister, Martha Alice Dobson; brothers William P. Dobson and E. Sidney Dobson; and nephew, George Felix Greene.
A celebration of her life will be held on what would have been her 97th birthday, July 8, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the family plot at Mountain View Cemetery, Greer. The family will receive visitors at the home in Beaufort.
The family requests that memorials be made to Carteret Street United Methodist Church, 408 Carteret Street, Beaufort, SC 29902; or to Epworth Children's Home, Post Office Box 50466, Columbia, SC 29250; or to the charity of one's choice.
