Emil was a homeopathic physician who came to America in his twenties. He settled in Cook county, Illinois and had his practice in LaGrange. In the 1920's he built a vacation cabin in Minocqua, Wisconsin where he and his family spent summers to avoid the heat of the city. He and his wife adopted two daughters, each at the time of their births.
