Donald "Don" Lee Foster

Don Foster, 83, passed away Friday, March 22, 2013 in Buffalo Gap, Texas.

The son of Cary Virginia (Gardner) and Sollie Foster, Don was born on November 28, 1929 in Happy Valley, Texas near Wingate. He served in the U. S. Army in Korea with the 45th Infantry Division. He was the recipient of three Bronze Service Stars, the National Defense Service Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge. In 1977 Don moved from Gardner, Illinois to Buffalo Gap, Texas where he retired from the City of Buffalo Gap Water Department. He was a member of First Baptist Church – Buffalo Gap.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Comer Foster, in 2008; parents, Sollie and Cary Foster; and four brothers.

Don is survived by his son, Jerry Don Foster and wife Andrea of Buffalo Gap; daughter, Donna Jean Schick and husband Roy of Joliet, Illinois; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, at First Baptist Church – Buffalo Gap with Rev. Burtis Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Buffalo Gap Cemetery under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 25, at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Dillon Foster, Tanner Foster, Derrick Sowell, Dana Sowell, Kirk Whitehurst, Sr., and Scotty Foster.

Memorials may be made to Hendrick Hospice Care, 1682 Hickory Street, Abilene, TX 79601.
