Mr. Carroll Hoover Rutledge, 81, of 201 South Georgia Ave., Bremen, passed away Monday, Oct. 5, 2009. Mr. Rutledge was born in Carroll County on Aug. 10, 1928. He was the son of the late William Wash Rutledge and the late Mary Pearl Carroll Rutledge.
Mr. Rutledge was a veteran of the U. S. Army and Navy, and was a retired heavy equipment operator.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by six sisters, Ruby Womack, Ruth Dewberry, Reba Holland, Martelle Payne, Ottie Bryant and Mae Moore; and two brothers, Owen Rutledge and Howard Rutledge.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Sue Reeves Rutledge of Bremen; one daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Bill Standifer of Bremen; one son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Rhonda Rutledge of Bremen; one sister, Audie Hutcheson of Bremen; two grandchildren, Meri Sampson and her husband Kyle of Missouri City, Texas, and Susan Standifer of Bremen; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Wesley Forrister officiating. Music was rendered by Rodney Gallman accompanied at the piano by Maxine House. Interment followed at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
The Haralson County Veterans Association folded and presented the flag at the conclusion of the service in the Chapel.
